Samantha

The thing about pets is that they love you at your very best and, more importantly, love you at your very worst. Unconditional love is a powerful thing that most humans are incapable of simply because they are human.

Sean and I made the difficult decision to say goodbye to our beloved little Sam last Sunday morning. She fought a month long illness and valiantly endured many trips to the vet, e-clinic and animal hospital. In the end it was cancer that invaded her body. We knew last Sunday morning she wanted us to let her go and my wonderful vet came in on her day off to help us say goodbye. We spent that morning holding her in our garden and letting her bird-watch. It seemed to comfort her, or maybe it comforted us. We certainly were not expecting her to leave us so soon after Sidney.
As we drove away from the vet, there by the side of the road, sat a tuxedo kitty. Handsome and full of life. A peacful sign from Sidney, perhaps, to put our minds at ease. She was with him now, pain-free and happily playing with an endless supply of cardboard-on-wire and a sky full of birds to watch. We will miss her. She was a great kitty!
